Builder / Contractorwales, United Kingdom

North Wales-based natural building company specialising in hempcrete, hemp blocks, and breathable floor and roof systems for new-build and retrofit projects.

About

Hempcrete Cymru is a North Wales-based construction company specialising in hempcrete and other natural building materials. Formed in 2020, the company works on new-build and retrofit projects across the UK, providing a route to affordable, high-performance, sustainable construction.

The company is directed by Ronan and Jasper. Ronan is a skilled stonemason and dry stone waller with extensive experience in restoration and renovation work, combining traditional stonemasonry with hempcrete construction. Jasper is a natural building specialist with expertise in hempcrete, breathable new-build and retrofit construction, and the repair of heritage buildings. The company holds memberships including Tŷ-Mawr Lime and the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products, and works alongside the Hemp Block Company and Llechen Lân.

Hempcrete Cymru's stated aim is to make low-impact construction the norm and remove the aspect of privilege from sustainability, often working with community groups to develop people-owned spaces. The company has completed builds across the UK, including projects in the Isle of Skye, County Durham, Pembrokeshire, Edinburgh and Cornwall, alongside its core work in Wales.
